The story behind Raceu Hats
My name is Catalina Raceu and I am the founder of Raceu Hats.
I've always been fascinated by accessories, especially hats and their incredible ability to instantly transform any look. They're more than just an accessory: they're attitude, presence, and a form of self-expression.
How it all began
Before creating Raceu Hats, I opened a hat shop in Sitges, Barcelona. There I discovered a reality that would shape my path: there were no hats with a modern design, a unique personality, and a quality that honored the traditional craft.
In 2014, I designed my first hat and realized there was a niche to explore within the world of contemporary millinery. That moment changed everything.
My curiosity led me to train with local hatmakers and do an internship in a traditional atelier, immersing myself in techniques that deserved to be preserved. In 2015, I officially launched the brand.
The Raceu universe
Since then, Raceu Hats has become my creative universe: a space where I champion the value of craftsmanship and the essence of a trade that deserves to endure.
My commitment has always been clear: to work with natural, sustainable and high-quality raw materials , respecting every stage of the process.
Each Raceu hat has a unique personality. This uniqueness comes from the hands of the artisans involved in its manufacture—approximately 35 people participate in each piece—contributing their experience, sensitivity, and precision.

OUR CREATION PROCESS
CREATION FROM SKETCH
Each hat begins with a sketch, either hand-drawn or digital, where we let our creativity soar. This is the moment when we define the proportions, volume, and character of each piece before moving on to the raw materials.
MATERIALS WITH ORIGIN
We select natural and sustainable fibers from different corners of the world: toquilla straw from Ecuador, palm straw from Mexico, seaweed-based materials from the Philippines, wheat straw from Central Asia, and wool felt from Australia. Each fabric brings its own story, texture, and personality to the design.
HANDICRAFTS MADE IN SPAIN
The entire production process is done by hand in Spain: we iron on wooden or aluminum molds, cut, sew, adjust crowns and brims, brush, steam, and decorate each piece individually. We maintain centuries-old techniques to create unique hats that are a true style statement.
